At the movies

It's Tuesday night and I invite Santi to go to the movies, as I have two tickets we had purchased a week ago or so. I am not expecting a lot of people to be there, but to my surprise there's a decent crowd out there. It turned out that tickets are half the price on Tuesdays! (Oh, we're so coming every week now!)

We decided to watch 'Green Lantern', and my guessing was that there wouldn't be a lot of people as the movie had been out for a couple of weeks already. We were right, because there were only five kids already seated when we walked in...

Santi left to buy some food and I stayed there resting my legs and occasionally talking to the five teens, who were sitting two rows the back. I thought they might have known me, because they were treating me with familiarity. I, of course, had no idea of who they were…

Suddenly, a couple arrived and they started to walk through the row right behind me. Just as they were about to take a seat, I turned to them and told them, looking seriously:

- Sorry guys, that seat is taken.

I'm so hilarious. I swear I chose the wrong profession. No, really, they actually laughed.

OK, they smiled politely. If they hadn’t, this post would have appeared tomorrow instead of today, as part of my “Embarrassing moments” series…

Es martes a la noche y lo invito a Santi al cine, ya que tengo dos tickets que habíamos comprado hace un par de semanas. No espero mucha gente en el lugar, pero para mi sorpresa hay una pequeña multitud. Resulta que los tickets cuestan la mitad del precio los martes! (Vamos a volver todas las semanas!)

Decidimos mirar ‘Linterna verde’, y calculé que no iba a haber mucha gente porque la película ya llevaba un par de semanas en cartel. Tenía razón, porque para cuando entramos a la sala, sólo había cinco chicos más sentados…

Santi se fue a buscar unos snacks y yo me quedé descansando mis piernas y charlando con los cinco adolescentes, que estaban unas filas más atrás. Daba la impresión de que me conocieran, porque me trataban con cierta familiaridad. Yo, por supuesto, ni idea de quiénes eran…

En eso llegó una parejita y comenzaron a abrirse paso por la fila justo detrás de la mía. Ya éramos como nueve! Justo cuando se estaban por sentar, me dí vueltas y les dije, luciendo muy serio:

- Disculpen, pero ese asiento está reservado.

Soy tan gracioso, les digo que elegí la profesión equivocada. No, en serio, se rieron y todo!

OK, la verdad, sonrieron por cortesía. Si no lo hubiesen hecho, este post habría aparecido mañana en lugar de hoy, como parte de mi serie “Embarrassing moments”…
