Silly Monkey Stories #145 – Dance, baby, dance

(En español más abajo)

Canada 22/Apr/2011 – Sofía (1)

My niece Sofía is an angel. I don't think I've seen a baby so beautiful since my own brother (her father) was a baby himself. The curly hair and the big blue eyes surely remind me of him. When she smiles, however, I can see her beautiful mother smiling through her.

Sofi has a beautiful character (OK, most of the time). She's always singing and dancing, with an eloquence and clarity that is unusual for a girl who's not even 2 yet. She has a collection of tens of DVDs with children's music (yup, Daddy spoils her and who could blame him?), and she is constantly asking to have them played. 'Sapo Pepe' (Pepe the toad), 'Cantajuegos' (Sing and play), she will demand and you better do as she says, or her good mood will vanish in nanoseconds.

She LOVES to dance, so she will break into singing and dancing soon after each DVD begins to play. A few seconds later, she will grab her Dad's hand, and the message is clear: soon both are dancing in front of the TV until she (and not Dad) is tired or wants to watch something else.

It was different this past weekend, though, because of the much larger 'audience'. Dad went out first, as usual, but soon my brother Martín had to join them. Then it was my mother's turn, and finally Sofi had no other choice than to come and have me follow the crowd.

And then we were, four grown ups dancing in front of the TV, just to please this little angel that makes everything sweeter every minute.
