Canadian icon

I just came back from Tim Hortons, and it was a madhouse, at usual. That might explain why I don't go too often. At best, I would go once a week, and most of the times I end buying a diet coke instead of a coffee. I need to change this if I want to become a better Canadian...

I counted 20 people lining up in front of me, and about ten cars in the drive-thru. Then I remember what I use to say about the number of Tim Hortons that we have in the Tri-cities: "There are more Tim Hortons than Burger King, McDonald's and Wendy's put together". Now, is that really true? Time for me to do some research.

This is the information I pulled from the Phone book:

The grand total is 38. Now how many Tim Hortons do we have in here? Once again, according to the phone book, there are 17 in Cambridge and 44 in Kitchener - Waterloo, so the total is 61.

What if I add A&W and Harvey's too?

  • A&W = 2 in Cambridge + 3 in K-W = 5 (Clearly not enough) :-)
  • Harvey's = 2 in Cambridge + 10 in K-W = 12

Even after adding these two chains, the total goes up to 55. So I will update my statement:

"There are more Tim Hortons than Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's, A&W and Harvey's put together".

This is a very long statement, though, and it will be hard for me to remember, so I will rephrase:

"There are a lot of Tim Hortons"

There you go.

  1. There are 2 Tim Horton's within a short walk of my house.
There is a Harvey's less than 5 minutes away, and 2 Mc Donalds close by.
    Life is good :)

  2. I don't have any around my place. The closest one is the Tim Hortons on Bridge and University, which is about 1Km away. There are no fast food joints in the area either.

Of course we're planning to sell the house and move!

  3. The closest Tim Hortons from my place is about 11km.
I am really away from civilization.

That doesn't stop me to go for a TH coffee.
