There are certain characters that you're going to need if you're writing a blog in Spanish. Some people don't use them, replacing them with the corresponding unaccented letter, but sometimes words end having a completely different meaning. For example: If you write 'Feliz ano nuevo' instead of 'Feliz año nuevo', then instead of 'Happy New Year' you're saying 'Happy New Anus' :-)
If you copy and paste without taking the necessary caution, your accentuated letters may end looking very badly, and what you're trying to say will be hard to understand.
So, here are some ASCII codes you might want to remember:
- á: <Alt> + 160 / <Alt> + 0225
- é: <Alt> + 130 / <Alt> + 0233
- í: <Alt> + 161 / <Alt> + 0237
- ó: <Alt> + 162 / <Alt> + 0243
- ú: <Alt> + 163 / <Alt> + 0250
- ñ: <Alt> + 164 / <Alt> + 0241
- Ñ: <Alt> + 165 / <Alt> + 0209
- ü: <Alt> + 129 / <Alt> + 0252
I'm not a purist, so you might see me not using all of these characters occasionally. But if you want your weblog to look professional (and to be understandable), it's always recommended that you use them. Or that you edit your posts properly. ;-)

ReplyDeleteEs util saber los codigos ASCII, en mi blog siempre acentuo y cuido la ortografia, pero cuando escribo mensajes omito los acentos por velocidad.
Desde antes de entrar a la universidad memorice los ASCII de las palabras acentuadas en español.
Recuerdo en la escuela primaria que habia un texto que cambiando la acentuacion el significado era totalmente opuesto, lo hacian justamente para ense&ar la importancia de escribir correctamente.
En mi experiencia solo los informaticos hacemos uso de estos codigos de forma directa, el resto de la gente los usa muy poco.
Se les hace muy complicado.
El unico que nunca me he aprendido es el de la diéresis en la 'u': Alt + 129
