Distance

I'm really angry today. Santiago is really looking forward to starting at his new school, Margaret Avenue. He went there today to find out in which class he was going to be, but they didn't have that information. What they did know, took us by surprise: he wouldn't be bussed to school. The rule says you have to live at more than 3.5 kilometers and we're at 3.2. Santi is devastated, as he knows how complicated this will be for us. If I'm away on business, Gaby would have to get everybody out of bet at 6:30, to take Santi to school (he starts at 8:00) and then the other three (who go in at 9:00). The other option is to buy a bus pass, which costs $48.00 a month (and Santi would have to walk about 500 metres, which is not exactly ideal during the winter). We have no other options.

Just in case, we contacted the Catholic school, St. Matthew, which is much nicer and modern than Margaret, but is at only 1.6 km away. They would bus him no problem. We don't know what to do, because Santi is very anxious to go to Margaret.

I phoned the school, the Ministry of Transportation, etc, and the best I got was that they would review his situation by the end of October, so they can maybe offer him a courtesy seat. That is all.

Si yo estoy de viaje, Gaby debería levantar a todo el mundo a las 6:30, para poder llevarlo a Santi a la escuela (él entra a las 8:00) y luego a los otros tres (que entran a las 9:00). Si no, tendremos que sacar un abono en el bus, que cuesta $48.00 por mes (y Santi va a tener que caminar unos 500 metros, lo cual en invierno no va a ser exactamente lo ideal). No tenemos otras opciones.

Por las dudas, averiguamos en la escuela católica, St. Matthew, que es mucho más linda y moderna que Margaret, pero queda a sólo 1.6 Km. Ellos sí lo llevarían y traerían en bus. Pero no sabemos que hacer, ya que Santi está muy ilusionado con Margaret.

Ya llamé a la escuela, al ministerio de transporte, etc, y lo mejor que obtuve es que a fines de Octubre revisarían la situación y podrían ofrecerle un asiento de cortesía en el bus. Eso es todo.
