Musical Sundays #04 – Neil Diamond

I mentioned Neil Diamond a while back, when I was talking about the long trips we use to make, all of us crammed in the back of a Ford Fairlane. That car had an 8-track player, and if my memory doesn’t fail me, we only had two 8-tracks for this one 12-hour long trip, which we would play all the time: one was by Italian singer Nicola Di Bari, and the other one by Neil Diamond, to whom I dedicate today’s post.

 

Neil Leslie Diamond (yes, that’s actually his real name!) was born in New York City in 1941. Known as ‘the Jewish Elvis’, he’s still active and touring; he has sold more than 120 million records worldwide. One of his biggest hits ever, “Sweet Caroline” was featured in one of this season’s episodes of the very successful TV show “Glee”.

 

Yes, I know, he might not be everybody’s favourite, but he has some impressive numbers! See below for three of my favourite Diamond songs.

 

 

Mencioné a Neil Diamond hace un tiempo, cuando hablaba de esos largos viajes que solíamos hacer, con todos nosotros apretados en el asiento trasero de un Ford Fairlane. El auto tenía un reproductor de magazines (8-tracks) y si mi memoria no me falla, para un viaje de 12 horas que hicimos sólo teníamos dos magazines, los que sonaron todo el tiempo: uno era del italiano Nicola Di Bari, y el otro de Neil Diamond, a quien le dedico mi post de hoy.

Es llamado ‘el Elvis judío’, y todavía sigue activo y de gira; ha vendido más de 120 millones de discos en todo el mundo. Uno de sus más grandes éxitos, “Sweet Caroline” fue incluído en uno de los episodios de esta temporada de la muy exitosa serie de TV “Glee”.

 

Sí, lo sé, tal vez Diamond no sea un favorito de las masas, pero tienen que admitir que tiene una carrera impresionante! Aquí tienen tres de mis canciones preferidas.
