Question #1 – Are you usually late, early or right on time?

I'm usually on time for everything (and most times, early) except one thing: work. I'm not your stereotypical Latino, I guess. We have friends that tell us to come at one specific time, and the rest of their friends at another. Let's say they tell us to be there at 8:00, and the rest to be there at 7:15. They know that's the only way everybody will be there at 8:00 PM :-))):-)

Question #2 – What would be harder for you, to tell someone you love them or to tell them that you do not love them back?

The second, definitely. I have no problems telling my wife and kids how much I love them, but I would have a hard time telling someone who loves me 'Sorry, but I don't'. I only had to do it a couple of times in my life, and it wasn't easy...

Question #3 – Which would you rather have: a high salary or job satisfaction?

I already have the job satisfaction thing, so I guess it's time for me to make the big bucks!

Pregunta #1 – Sos normalmente puntual, llegas temprano o llegas tarde?

Soy puntual para todo (e incluso llego temprano la mayoría de las veces), excepto para una cosa: la oficina (siempre llego 15' tarde, pero después me quedo 1/2 hora más...) No soy un latino estereotípico, supongo. Tenemos amigos que nos dicen de ir a su casa a una hora determinada, y al resto de sus invitados les dan otra hora. Por ejemplo, a nosotros nos dicen a las 8:00 PM y al resto a las 7:15. De esa manera se aseguran de que todos lleguen a las 8:00 PM! :-)

Pregunta #2 – Qué sería más difícil para vos, decirle a alguien que lo querés o decirle a alguien que te quiere que vos no?

Definitivamente la segunda. No tengo ningún problema en decirle a mi esposa e hijos cuánto los quiero, pero si tendría muchas dificultades en decirle a alguien que me ama 'Mirá, lamentablemente yo no'. Lo he tenido que hacer un par de veces en mi vida, y no fue nada fácil.

Pregunta #3 – Que preferirías tener, un salario alto o satisfacción con tu trabajo?

Ya estoy más que satisfecho con el trabajo que hago, así que calculo que ya llegó el momento en que comience a levantar el dinero con pala!

Question #1 – What's the best summer job you ever had?

Not exactly sure… I didn’t have a lot of summer jobs, because I already had a real job by age 17… so I couldn’t pick one.

 

Question #2 – Tell me about the worst date you ever went on.

Oh, OK. I remember two off the top of my head… There was one time in which a bird pooped on my head as I was asking a girl out (I wrote about this already) and then another episode in which my car caught fire as I was in one of the busiest corners of Buenos Aires (Alem and Corrientes, for those who know) at 6:00 PM on a Friday. Rest to say, none of these two ended very well…

 

Question #3 – Do you think the age for a driver's license should be raised (currently 16 here in the U.S.)?

I believe 16 is way too young of an age to be driving, yet again I know a lot of people way over that age that should not be behind the wheel. I found funny –or should I say hypocritical– that there are all different ages to be able to drive, buy alcohol, buy cigarettes or vote. Who’s to say when one becomes an ‘adult’? And another thing, going back to the 16 year old driver’s license age limit… what about the other end? Should we have an upper age limit for drivers as well?

 

 

Pregunta #1 – Cuál fue el mejor trabajo de verano que hayas tenido?

No estoy seguro… No tuve muchos trabajos de verano, porque ya tenía un trabajo ‘de verdad’ para cuando tenía 17… así que no podría elegir uno.

 

Pregunta #2 – Cuéntame sobre la peor cita que hayas tenido.

Oh, OK. Recuerdo dos en este momento… El primero, cuando un pajarito me hizo caca en la cabeza justo cuando estaba invitando a salir a una chica (ya escribí sobre eso) y otro cuando se me prendió fuego el auto en una de las esquinas de más tráfico de Buenos Aires (Alem y Corrientes, para los que conocen) un viernes a las 6:00 PM. Por supuesto, esas citas no terminaron muy bien…

 

Pregunta #3 – Piensas que la edad mínima para obtener un registro de conductor debiera ser incrementada (actualmente es 16 en USA)?

Creo que a los 16 años uno es muy joven para tomar una responsabilidad como la de conducir, a pesar de que también conozco montones de gente mayores de 16 que no debería estar al volante. Me parece interesante –o debiera decir hipócrita– que haya distintas edades para poder conducir, comprar alcohol, cigarrillos o hasta votar. Quién establece cuándo uno es un ‘adulto’? Y otra cosa, volviendo al tema de los 16 años de edad necesarios para el registro de conducir… y qué tal la otra punta? Debiéramos tener un límite máximo para los conductores también?

Question #1 – Describe to me your favorite lounging clothes.

I have some black jogging pants that are in really bad shape. It has some holes in strategic areas, so I have to wear black shorts underneath. I have had it for the last seven years or so, and it's literally falling apart, but... I love it. Nobody better touch it. Then on top of that, a very long and comfy t-shirt, and some slippers or just barefoot.

 

Question #2 – If you promised to never lie again in your lifetime, in what area would it be hardest to uphold the promise?

I think the worse for me would be leading with people at work. It wouldn't be an issue with Gaby and the kids, because I (almost) always tell them the truth, but how do I deal with somebody who's useless, or one of those individuals whose loud-mouth-to-brain-size ratio is off the charts.

Pregunta #1 – Describa sus ropas casuales favoritas:

Tengo un pantalón de jogging color negro que está -en términos argentinos- 'hecho pelota'. Tiene agujeros en la entrepierna, así que siempre tengo que utilizarlo con un short del mismo color abajo. Lo tengo desde hace como siete años, y se cae a pedazos, pero... lo amo. Que nadie me lo toque. Después, una remera bien larga y confortable, y unas pantuflas, o sino simplemente 'en patas'.

 

Pregunta #2 – Si prometiera no mentir más por el resto de tus días, cuál sería el área en la que sería más difícil mantener esa promesa?

Me parece que lo peor sería cuando tengo que lidiar con gente con quien trabajo. Sé que con Gaby y los chicos no sería problema porque (casi) nunca les miento, pero cómo hago para lidiar con alguien que es un inútil, o una de esas personas que tienen una proporción desmesurada entre el tamaño de sus bocas y el de sus cerebros.

Question #1 - Do you have any idiosyncrasies or unusual quirks when it comes to food and/or eating?

Yes, I do, and I have discussed this already. I won’t probably eat anything that you don’t have to chase or fry… My reticence to eat fruits or vegetables (especially those used in salads) is almost legendary. My kids use to joke that the “F” word means fruit for me, with ‘fruit salad’ being the worse thing they can say to me…

 

Question #2 – Have you ever written love letters? If so, do you still have any of them?

No, I don’t think I have ever done that, but I did write many love songs. I don’t believe I still have them in paper, but somehow I remember them all.

 

Question #3 – How easy or difficult is it for you to say you're sorry?

It depends. Most of the times, it comes easily; but there are some others when I’m so mad I just can’t get myself to go and apologize. It’s like I would like to enjoy my anger a little more.

 

 

Pregunta #1 – Tenés alguna idiosincracia o manías inusuales con respecto a la comida?

Sí que tengo, y ya lo he discutido antes. Lo más probable es que no coma nada que no haya que perseguir o freír… Mi reticencia a comer frutas y verduras (especialmente las que se usan en ensaladas) es casi legendaria. A mis chicos les gusta bromear con que para mí ‘fruta’ es una mala palabra, y ‘ensalada de fruta’ es el peor insulto que puedo recibir… (hey, hasta tiene rima)

 

Pregunta #2 – Has escrito cartas de amor alguna vez? Si es así, todavía las conservas?

No, no creo haberlo hecho, pero sí he escrito muchas canciones de amor. No creo tener ninguna en papel, pero de alguna manera me acuerdo de las letras.

 

Pregunta #3 – Qué tan fácil o difícil es decir ‘lo siento’ para vos?

Depende. La mayoría de las veces, me sale fácil; pero hay otras en que estoy tan enojado que simplemente no puedo hacerlo por un tiempo; uno diría que quisiera disfrutar de mi furia por un ratito más.

Question #1 - What is the biggest mistake you made in 2008 and will not make again in 2009?

Not taking good care of myself, especially when I am on the road. In the first half of this year, I would make sure that I ate healthier food, and also that I booked a hotel with either a gym or a pool (or both). Then I would make the time to use them. But I could not do that in the last few months, partly due to the nature of my job, but also because I was a lazy slob.

 

Question #2 – Do you make New Year's resolutions? Why or why not?

I don’t make New Year’s resolutions anymore. They just don’t make sense to me. Am I going to change my behaviour radically just because it’s January 1st? That’s a lame excuse. If the change comes from within, it’s going to work. If not… I can say whatever I want at midnight, but I will have failed by 11:00 AM that same day.

 

Question #3 – Who do you nominate as “Man or Woman of the Year” for 2008?

I guess the only one who would qualify as “Man or Woman” is Michael Jackson, but I know that’s not what I’m being asked here. I guess the obvious choice for “Man of the Year” would be Barack Obama, and the “Woman of the Year” could be… Tina Fey?

 

Question #4 – What was your greatest accomplishment in 2008?

It’s all related to my job. I think I have had the most successful year of my career, travelling all over the globe, taking on a lot of responsibility and being successful in every project I worked on. I earned respect and recognition from my colleagues. I just hope that the people that should notice all this did!

 

 

Pregunta #1 – Cuál es el error más grande que hayas cometido en 2008 y no cometerás en 2009?

No haberme cuidado lo suficientemente bien, sobre todo cuando estuve de viaje. Durante la primera parte del año, yo me aseguré de comer más sano, y también de buscar hoteles con gimnasio o pileta (o ambos). Me hacía el tiempo para utilizarlos también. Pero no pude hacer lo mismo en la última parte del año, un poco por la naturaleza del trabajo que hago y otro poco de puro holgazán.

 

Pregunta #2 – Haces resoluciones de Año Nuevo? Por qué o por qué no?

No, ya hace tiempo que no. No le veo el sentido. Yo no voy a cambiar radicalmente mi comportamiento sólo porque un papel dice que es Primero de Enero. Es una excusa ‘berreta’ (de mala calidad, en Argentina). Si el cambio viene de dentro de mí, entonces va a funcionar, pero si no es así… Puedo prometer lo que quiera a medianoche, que para las 11:00 AM ya voy a haber fallado.

 

Pregunta #3 – A quién nominarías como “Hombre o Mujer del Año” para 2008?

Creo que la única persona que califica como “Hombre o Mujer” es Michael Jackson, pero sé que no es lo que se me pregunta aquí. Me parece que la elección obvia para “Hombre del Año” sería Barack Obama, y la “Mujer del Año” podría ser… Tina Fey?

 

Pregunta #4 – Cuál fue tu más grande logro en 2008?

Mi desempeño en el trabajo. Creo que he tenido el mejor año de toda mi carrera, viajando por todo el mundo, tomando responsabilidades muy grandes y teniendo éxito en cada proyecto en que trabajé. Me gané el respeto y reconocimiento de mis colegas. Espero que aquellos que deberían tomar nota de todo esto lo hayan hecho!

Question #1 - If you were at a friend’s house for a holiday dinner and you found a dead cockroach in your salad, what would you do?

If you know me a little, you will know that I will probably find a dead cockroach more edible than a salad… because it’s not green.

 

Question #2 – If you could put anyone you know on Prozac, who would you choose?

No clue. What’s Prozac for, depression? Then it would be for me to take after I watch my soccer team’s games (talk about slippery slopes).

 

Question #3 – How do you feel about public displays of affection?

I have absolutely no issues with it, and neither does my laptop.

 

Pregunta #1 – Si estas en la casa de un amigo para la cena de Nochebuena y encontraras una cucaracha muerta en la ensalada, que harías?

Si me conocen un poquito, sabrán que voy a encontrar más apetitosa una cucaracha muerta que una ensalada… porque no es verde.

 

Pregunta #2 – Si pudieras prescribirle Prozac a alguien que conozcas, a quién sería?

Ni idea. Para qué era el Prozac, para la depresión? Entonces sería para mí, así lo tomo después de mirar los partidos de mi equipo de fútbol (que anda en picada)

 

Pregunta #3 – Qué opinás de las muestras de afecto en público?

No tengo ningún problema en absoluto con ellas, y mi laptop tampoco.

Question #1 – Have you ever returned an item to a store for a refund after having used it?

Of course. Thousands of times. This is Canada!! :-)

And if the question were “have you ever bought something knowing that you might be returning it after having used it just once?” then my answer would have still been “yes”.

Question #2 – You are going out for the evening. If your partner objects what you are wearing, would you change your clothing?

Most likely. Gaby has a sense of aestethics that I lack. She also knows when I should be wearing something on top of my t-shirt (like when it’s –25C outside). I’d say I would always do what she says, except it’s something silly like I have a big hole in my shirt (I’m putting my fleece on top!).

Question #3 – What item that you don’t currently possess would you most like to have in your home?

A big TV to put in our family room. We have the space, we have the home theatre system… and all that for a six year old 25” TV. I wish I could do something about it…

Pregunta #1 – Alguna vez has devuelto algo comprado en un negocio para que te reintegren el dinero?

Por supuesto. Miles de veces. Esto es Canadá!! :-)

Y si la pregunta fuera “alguna vez has comprado algo sabiendo que lo más probable será que lo devuelvas luego del primer uso?” mi respuesta también sería “sí”.

Pregunta #2 – Estás saliendo por el resto de la noche. Si tu pareja te objeta lo que tienes puesto, te cambiarías tu ropa?

Muy probablemente. Gaby tiene un sentido estético que a mí me falta. También sabe cuándo debería ponerme algo encima de mi remera o playera (por ejemplo, cuando hace –25C afuera). Diría que siempre hago lo que me dice, a menos que sea algo tonto como que tengo un agujero en mi remera (si después me pongo algo arriba!).

Pregunta #3 – Que item que actualmente no tienes te gustaría tener en tu casa?

Una TV bien grande para poner en nuestro family room. Tenemos el lugar, tenemos el sistema de home theathre… pero tenemos una TV de 25 pulgadas que compramos hace seis años. Quisiera poder hacer algo al respecto…

Question #1 - What is the most expensive meal you've ever eaten?

I can remember two: one at the World Trade Center, where I went with my brother Guillermo, his wife Analia and my two nieces. We had three executive menus (meaning the cheapest ones) and kids meals. I paid $110 for that (it was my turn).

 

The other one was way more expensive, but I didn’t pay for it. I was invited to a Japanese restaurant and my host made sure he would order for me. “I know you’re from Argentina so you like meat; I will order you the best beef in the house”, he said, and then he ordered a Kobe beef.

 

I started to eat it and noticed that my friend kept asking me how it was. “Not bad”, I replied in between chomps, “not bad at all”; I could not imagine why he was being so insistent.

 

I learned why later. My steak alone was $220!!! And it wasn’t THAT good!!! 

 

Question #2 – What is the fastest speed you've ever traveled in a car?

Somewhere between 160 and 170 km/h, on a rental car. It was such a great car that I didn’t realize I was going that fast. Once I did, I immediately slowed down to 110 and felt really bad (I don’t like speeding, and I had a big car accident before…) 

 

Question #3 – What is the highest building you've ever been to the top floor of?

Going back to #1, that would be the World Trade Center, but I was ‘only’ on the 107th floor. I guess the answer would then be either the Empire State Building or the CN Tower (but the CN Tower is not exactly ‘a building’)

Pregunta #1 – Cuál es la comida más cara que hayas comido?

Recuerdo dos: una en el World Trade Center, donde fui con mi hermano Guillermo, su esposa Analia y mis dos sobrinas. Comimos tres ‘menúes ejecutivos’ (es decir, los más baratos), y dos menúes infantiles. Pagué $110 por eso (era mi turno).

La otra es aún más cara, pero yo no pagué por ella. Me invitaron a un restaurante japonés y mi anfitrión se aseguró de encargar la comida él. “Sé que sos de Argentina y te gusta la carte; yo te voy a pedir la mejor carne de la casa”, me dijo, y me pidió un bife Kobe.

Lo comencé a comer y note que mi amigo me preguntaba a cada rato cómo estaba. “No esta mal”, le dije mientras masticaba, “nada mal en realidad”; no me imaginaba por qué era tan insistente.

 

Luego me di cuenta. Mi bife costó $220!!! Y no estaba TAN bueno!!!

 

Pregunta #2 – Cuál es la velocidad más alta a la que hayas ido en un automóvil?

Algo así como 160 o 170 km/h, en un auto alquilado. El auto era tan bueno, que ni me dí cuenta de qué tan rápido iba. Una vez que lo hice, inmediatamente frené hasta 110 y me sentí muy mal (no me gusta ‘correr’, y ya tuve un accidente muy grande antes…)

 

Pregunta #3 – Cuál es el edificio más alto en que hayas estado en el último piso?

Volviendo al #1, eso sería el the World Trade Center, pero subí ‘sólo’ hasta el piso 107. Tal vez la respuesta sería el Empire State Building o el CN Tower (pero éste último no es exactamente un ‘edificio’).

Question #1 - It's "Cyber Monday" today, the ceremonial kick-off of the holiday online shopping season in the United States. Do you do much online shopping, holiday or otherwise?

No, I don’t shop online at all. I don’t remember when was the last time I actually went on to buy something on eBay or a similar site. Maybe it was this past January, when I found something I really wanted to buy (some building blocks from Argentina called “Rasti”). If I have to do any shopping, I do it ‘in situ’. 

 

Question #2 – Are you a Mac or PC user? Why?

PC, since ever. No particular reason other than the fact that my whole professional life has taken place around a PC. I used to assemble and sell them back in the ‘90s, and even though I depend on them for my job, I still see them as glorified home appliances. Like Pablo Picasso once said, “But they’re dumb! They can only give you answers…”

 

Question #3 – What website do you spend more time on that you care to admit?

I will name two. One is a pro-wrestling website called Nodq.com and the other is a gossip website called TMZ.com. I spend way too much time in there…

 

 

Pregunta #1 – Hoy es "Cyber Lunes”, el día de inicio de la temporada de compras online en Estados Unidos. Hacés muchas compras online, ya sea para las fiestas o no?

No, no hago prácticamente ninguna compra online. No recuerdo cuándo fue la última vez que chequeé algo en eBay o un sitio similar. Tal vez fue en Enero pasado, cuando encontré algo que realmente estaba buscando comprar (unos bloques fabricados en Argentina llamados ‘Rasti’). Si tengo que comprar algo, me gusta hacerlo ‘in situ’.

 

Pregunta #2 – Usas Mac o PC? Por qué?

Uso PC, desde siempre. Ninguna razón en particular, salvo que toda mi vida profesional ha transcurrido alrededor de una PC. Allá por los 90s, yo armaba y vendía computadoras, y a pesar de que dependo de ellas para hacer mi trabajo, las sigo viendo como artículos del hogar muy sobreestimados. Como dijo una vez Pablo Picaso “Pero son tontas! Sólo pueden darte respuestas…”

 

Pregunta #3 – En qué website pasás más tiempo del que quieras admitir?

Les daré dos. Uno es un site de lucha profesional llamado Nodq.com y el otro es un sitio de chimentos de Hollywood llamado TMZ.com. En ambos paso demasiado tiempo, más del que debería…

Question #1 - Do you believe people are basically good?
No, I don’t, actually. I have already met too many people that are basically evil.

Question #2 – If you could change the custom of shaking hands, what would you replace it with?
With a hug, but that wouldn’t work out in North America… ;-)

Question #3 – What is something that you enjoy that is a chore for most other people?
Can’t think of anything right now, but I do remember that my two daughters like to empty the dishwasher every day…

Pregunta #1 – Crees que la gente es básicamente buena?
No, no lo creo. He conocido unos cuantos que son básicamente malignos.

Pregunta #2 – Si pudieras cambiar la costumbre de estrechar las manos, con qué la reemplazarías
Con un abrazo, pero eso no funcionaría en Norte América … ;-)

Pregunta #3 – Qué es algo que disfrutas haciendo que para todos los demás resulta un trabajo casi tedioso?
No se me ocurre nada, pero sí recuerdo que a mis hijas les gusta vaciar el lavavajillas todos los días….
