Like a cockroach

(En español más abajo)

CanadaIt’s been just a little over a month since my blog was taken down by a criminal working for my hometown’s newsportal ‘DiarioNecochea’. I went through some really sad days seeing how this person stole my personal information from their obviously unsecured database and managed to not only erase this blog, but also destroy my other two blogs ‘Superfan!’ and ‘SW Ontario Museum’ completely. Even more, a few days later I realized that this bastard had even deleted all of my Youtube videos.

Well, guess what, you moron? I’m still here! I was back within 10 days, in fact. Didn’t lose a single post, though it’s discouraging to see that Google is still sending my readers to the old URLs, so whoever comes here from there hits a dead link. This has caused my blog to have gone from almost 200 visits per day as of late January to the 70/80 I have these days. It’s very discouraging to see that, but well, I have always said that I write this mostly for me, right? :-)

I have some more bad news for the wannabe hacker. ‘Superfan!’ is back today!!! I will find a way to keep working on my ‘soccer only’ blog as well from now on. I have tens of posts either planned, half written or about to be published. I just need to get back into the routine of making the time to move my posts from my Blackberry and into Windows Live Writer. Oh, yes, that’s my secret. I write my posts on my tiny BB whenever I’m killing some time (like watching Santi practice or waiting for Florencia to finish her gym class). I normally write in English first, and then ‘translate’ that into my native Spanish. Weird, isn’t it?

This past month has been a emotional roller coaster for me, with regards to this and my other blogs. Many times I considered shutting down ‘Live from Waterloo’ for good; even yesterday I was seriously considering that idea. But I decided that nothing and nobody (especially that nobody) is going to bring me down. I will continue to be resilient, and I will come back. I’m like those cockroaches you just can’t get rid of. :-)

I would like to take a final minute to thank each and every one of you who gave me your support after what happened to this blog, but especially to Enzo and Guillermo Ziegler who were the first to start talking about a campaign, something that Ziegler then turned into a big event. Mission accomplished, Guillermo, you can type ‘Diario Necochea’ on Google and see how Majo’s post appears on the very first page. Special mention to Caro from ‘La Mascarada’ (who wrote about this on her blog visited by 17,000+ people every day) and Vir from ‘Nena, cuidado al cruzar’. Both of them initiated their own wave by having their post picked up by their loyal readers.

I’m a thankful person, I have always said that. I will say this again: the things that people said and wrote about me… I will never forget that. Some even brought tears to my eyes.

Here’s the current status:
  • Live from Waterloo, all posts are back up, missing commentaries from Nov 2010 to Feb 2011.
  • Superfan!, all posts are back up, missing a few commentaries
  • SW Ontario Museum, haven’t started bringing it back yet (will soon!)
  • Youtube videos, about 20% done restoring them

I will not be defeated. Ideas can’t be killed.

Thank you! – Gracias!

Medio raro, no?

  • SW Ontario Museum, aún no he hecho nada (ya empezaré)
  • Videos de Youtube, un 20% ya están subidos.

No me van a ganar. Las ideas no se matan, che.

  4. What happened to you really suck and let's face it, it could happen to any of you. I'm sorry I missed the beginning of it when I was away, I only understood when you commented on my password post recently.

I had a few hacking attempts and luckily I didn't lose anything. It's good to see that you were back online so fast, even though I'm sure it's a lot of work!
