Silly Monkey Stories #72 - “Gabiel?”

Canada07/Nov/2009 – Catalina (1)

I finally met my niece Catalina (aka) “Cata” this weekend, and she’s a beautiful, hyper-active 1.5 year old girl (well, she’s almost two, and she’s fully into her ‘terrible two’ phase). Since my kids have never been categorized as ‘quiet’, I was fully ready to face this challenge… but she wasn’t!

I walked in, and you would think she had seen the Devil himself, as she ran away crying out loud, then almost diving into her mother’s arms. She was so afraid of me that I would have to stay away from the living room for a couple hours… until she found out I had brought some presents… :-)

Then she even sat on my knees when I allowed her to play with my laptop, but got off as soon as she found a chance. I left for my school’s party soon afterwards, and what happened then was really funny: for the rest of the evening, Cata was walking around looking for me, calling “Gabiel? Gabiel?”. My brother and his wife thought she missed me already, but I told them that it probably was about finding where I was, so she wouldn’t dare to go there! :-)

Things got much better last night, when not only she spent some more time with me, she even allowed me to take her to bed and put her to sleep. “It’s an impossible task!”, they warned me. But again, four kids… and my brother didn’t know about the power of my ‘narcotic hand’. She was down and out within two minutes…

I will see her again in a few minutes (I’m writing this on Monday evening). I wonder what her reaction will be tonight…

Me pregunto cómo va a reaccionar…
