Looking for your first IT job in Waterloo Region?

 

I had heard about this before, and even though it’s not the kind of topics I normally blog about (this is not a services blog like “Cómo es Canada?” or the portal that Bruno Marge co-authored, “Inmigrantes Canada”, I thought it was a good idea to talk about this, because I bet it will be interesting for the many immigrants we have in the region, our newcomers and those who are planning to come to Canada and already know that Waterloo Region is the ‘top’ destination for those looking for a job in the Informatics, Healthcare or Insurance industries.

 

‘WRIEN’ is the Waterloo Region Immigrant Employment Network. Its purpose is to attract immigrant talent and make sure that it gets easier for the companies in this region to recruit them. There are many companies from this area that participate and organize events and training for these people to attend. This is highly recommended. There are mentoring plans, different types of courses and even the possibility of being able to obtain a loan to be used towards your training!

 

In addition to WRIEN, I recommend you take a look at the Communitech site, to see what are the local companies doing these days. This is definitely the ‘who’s who’ of the most important and active informatics region in Canada.

Había escuchado sobre esto antes, y si bien no es la clase de cosas sobre las que yo escribo (el mío no es un blog de servicios como “Cómo es Canada?” o el portal del que es co-autor Bruno Marge, “Inmigrantes Canada”, me pareció interesante comentarlo, porque es del interés de los muchos inmigrantes que esta región tiene, y de todos aquellos que están pensando venir a Canadá y saben que la Región de Waterloo es el lugar ‘top’ para los que trabajan en informática, salud o seguros.

 

El ‘WRIEN’ es el Waterloo Region Immigrant Employment Network (Red de Empleos para Inmigrantes de la Región de Waterloo). Su propósito es el de atraer talento inmigrante y asegurarse que se hace más fácil reclutarlos para las empresas de la región. Hay muchas empresas de la zona que participan y organizan eventos y cursos para que los inmigrantes nuevos aprovechen. Esto es altamente recomendable. Hay planes de ‘mentoring’ (en el que alguien te enseña a hacer tu trabajo), entrenamiento y hasta la posibilidad de obtener préstamos de dinero para utilizar en tu capacitación!

 

Además del WRIEN, les recomiendo mucho que se hagan una pasadita por Communitech, y vean en qué andan las empresas de la zona. Es definitivamente la guía ‘Quién es quién’ de la región informática más importante y pujante de Canadá.
