Top Commentators - October 2008

Receipt_200810
I saw this receipt at Mercedes' blog,
who in turn got it from www.customreceipt.com

CanadaOctober has definitely been a month of changes. Big ones, in fact. After a few months in which the number of visitors and the participation in my blog had decreased, I had managed to make a comeback in September. I was expecting October to be better, due to all the different reasons I had for blogging: Thanksgiving, Oktoberfest, the Federal Election, Hallowe'en... but I wasn't expecting such a grow! In terms of visits only, October 2008 has been the most successful month in this blog's short life, even surpassing February (when I won that Canadian Blogger Award and had my blog featured in a couple of newspapers). I was absolutely impressed with the fact that I would rarely fall behind 120 visits per day, which is a definitive improvement from those 60 / 70 back in August...

The Top Commentator race was won once again by Mike, who thus reclaimed the throne after a one-month hiatus. MCB came in second, just three comments behind Mike, and then Lorena (winner in September). Same top three, but in a different order.

As I was saying before, my daily average was just a little over 130 visits per day, which is a 30% increase compared to September. I guess I'm on the right track! My Technorati authority also went back up, and is now sitting at 110. It seems that my 'reactions' are now being picked up correctly. My Feedburner subscriptions continued their growing path, and now I finally boast over 100 subscribers, with a peak of 116 last Tuesday. I believe that at least four of those subscribers came here due to the post that Ale Betoño dedicated me at "El 22 en Canada". Now that's a good example of a blogger who not only has original, funny, smart things to say, but he's also willing to promote other bloggers, either with his "Profiles" series or with the "Latino Bloggers" day he organized back in August. On top of that, he pays visits to those bloggers who comment on his posts and most importantly, he treats his visitors with respect and education.

Let's talk about changes! This was the first month in which I can say that neither Wordless Wednesday, nor PhotoHunt or Weekly Winners drew the most visits this past month, even though they still contributed a lot. With a few exceptions, I had a very even month; the exceptions were, of course, the day after I was featured in Ale's blog, and the day I posted my thoughts on the Federal Election results. That one even earned me a Page Rank 10 from Google! Other very successful posts were the information about Santa Claus Parades in Ontario (which I'm still updating) and the one in which you could look for your Candidates for the Federal Election. I know that it's highly probable that this will go back to its previous state, but it surely was fun to see!

Here are my stats, according to Sitemeter:

Month Visits / Page Views Growth (respect previous month)
11/2007
1,708 / 3,157
-- / --
12/2007
1,632 / 2,499
-4.45% / -20.84%
01/2008
2,812 / 5,229
+72.30% / +109.24%
02/2008
3,530 / 6,662
+25.53% / +27.40%
03/2008
3,344 / 4.578
-5.27% / -31.28%
04/2008
2,763 / 3.917
-17.37% / -14.44%
05/2008
3,107 / 4,175
+12.45% / +6.59%
06/2008
3,230 / 4,276
+3.96% / +2.42%
07/2008
3,152 / 4,298
-2.41% / +0.51%
08/2008 2,508 / 3.167 -20.43% / -26.31%
09/2008 3,018 / 3.895
+20.33% / +22.99%
10/2008 4,046 / 5.425
+34.06% / +39.28%

I said it was impressive! Going back to the "Top Commentator" race, fourth place went to my 'neighbour' Kuanyin again, and the fifth was taken by Ale Betoño and my brother Fafa. Another interesting thing is that for the first time I don't have anybody from USA in the top 15. Is my blog becoming more oriented to the Spanish language than what I thought?

I had a total of 194 commentators who left 594 comments (and none of these are self-generated!). To summarize: my visits went up more than 30%, my Technorati authority went up 10% and my subscribers base in Feedburner grew by 22%. Not bad for an amateur, I guess.

I'm travelling a lot these days, and that will continue to happen in November, so it's going to affect the amount of time I dedicate to the blog. I hope I manage to keep it interesting!

ArgentinaOctubre fue un mes de cambios. Grandes cambios.

Mes Visitas / Page Views Crecimiento respecto mes anterior
11/2007 1,708 / 3,157 -- / --
12/2007 1,632 / 2,499 -4.45% / -20.84%
01/2008 2,812 / 5,229 +72.30% / +109.24%
02/2008 3,530 / 6,662 +25.53% / +27.40%
03/2008 3,344 / 4,578 -5.27% / -31.28%
04/2008 2,763 / 3.917 -17.37% / -14.44%
05/2008 3,107 / 4,175 +12.45% / +6.59%
06/2008 3,230 / 4,276 +3.96% / +2.42%
07/2008 3,152 / 4,298 -2.41% / +0.51%
08/2008 2,508 / 3.167 -20.43% / -26.31%
09/2008 3,018 / 3.895
+20.33% / +22.99%
10/2008 4,046 / 5.425
+34.06% / +39.28%

Espero poder mantenerlo interesante!
