Top Commentators - April 2008

CanadaApril was a very busy month for me, and the blog reflected it. I had a noticeable drop in the number of visits, and I think it's mostly due to my inability to visit most of my blogbuddies, and the hard time I had coming up with interesting posts.

Still, my Technorati authority went all the way up to 110 (it peaked at 115), and after a screw-up that left me with virtually no visits recorded, Blogalaxia is currently listing me as their third most popular Spanish blog in Canada (out of 76 currently registered). Of course, in this last case, it's due to a new method they employ to calculate the blog's popularity. If we only talk about visits, I'm somewhere between the 8th and 10th position (not bad either). But this 'authority' thing has caused that my blog is normally fighting for the top position with two blogs that record 5 times more visits than mine. I am in third position today, I was second yesterday, and I was even first for a couple of days when the ranking was first unveiled. No need to get cocky... (Update: Now I'm second, only 7 points away from the top).

My Wordless Wednesday are still responsible for the most traffic, closely followed by Sarcastic Mom's Weekly Winners (by the way, I send Lotus a hug). I still see more people reading and commenting on the rest of my stories.

I have created two new recurring series of posts for my blog. One is the "Where were you" game, which is on its 4th edition. Even though it's not VERY successful yet, I'm still more than willing to give it more time.

The other one is -I think- the most original, and that's my "Stealing posts" bi-weekly series (which means the next one is coming tomorrow!). I like the idea of sharing other people's bright moments!

My stats, according to Sitemeter:

Month Visits /
Page Views
Growth (respect
previous month)
11/2007 1,708 / 3,157 -- / --
12/2007 1,632 / 2,499 -4.45% / -20.84%
01/2008 2,812 / 5,229 +72.30% / +109.24%
02/2008 3,530 / 6,662 +25.53% / +27.40%
03/2008 3,344 / 4.578 -5.27% / -31.28%
04/2008 2,763 / 3.917 -17.37% / -14.44%

I really hope I can come up with more interesting material for the month of May. It's going to be a very busy month, with the soccer season just kicking off. I have started a weblog for the competitive team I'm coaching (the "Waterloo Panthers") already, and another one for Santi's team (the Warriors) might follow.

The winner of the month is -oh, what a shock- Mike, from Pehuajó, Argentina (author of "Pehuajeando pa'l mundo", and major tyrant of the "Poyita"), again followed by Biddie, Paola, and Jacqueline. I still miss my 'old' blogbuddies, like Ale Marge, Jorge, Arturo, Maria Marta and Nata. I mean, I know they still read the blog, but I really miss their comments.

We had many new readers, and lots of new commentators too. I received comments from 247 different people this month (just four less than the previous month)! The blog is still growing, and I still like working on it.

Thank you, everybody!

Tuve muchos nuevos lectores, y muchísimos nuevos comentaristas.

  2. I, too, get more comments from WW than anything else. I've been following the "Where Were You?" series, but it seems that I miss those that I could have something to say about. Then when I finally get there in time, I couldn't answer a single question, so I skip it. I think it's a great idea and hopefully it will take off!

  5. Gabriel, don't you think it becomes a problem when you get so many responses you can't answer them all in a timely fashion?

  7. Indeed, Lceel!. I still try my best, but I get completely overflown by messages sometimes (especially on Wednesdays)
