Silly Monkey Stories #157 – Sweet revenge, literally

(En español más abajo)

Canada04/Jul/2011 – Juan (12)

Juan loves food, there are no doubts about that. You should see his eyes whenever Gaby brings one of his favourite dishes to the table, he almost looked like a hungry puppy. Smile Because of that, whenever I travel, I will tell him about restaurants I have visited or something cool that I ate. This I don’t do because I’m evil, but because he actually likes to hear about it.

His mother doesn’t like to hear that, however; especially when I travel back to Argentina. Me being the rat I am, I send her pictures of the food we both like and there’s no way we can find here, like this:

I know she hates me for it, but well, that’s what I do. Another thing I do to annoy the kids (Juan especially) is to eat my beloved Lincoln cookies (which I only get when somebody comes from Argentina) in front of them. Let’s say my mother in law comes to visit, she brings a whole suitcase full of sweet stuff. And two packages of Lincoln cookies. I don’t care about the rest, just give me ‘my’ Lincoln. As I said, I will eat them in front of the kids, but at a deliberately slow pace, closing my eyes and savouring each piece as if it were manna. Boy, do they hate me when I do that!

Now it’s them who are in Argentina, and I’m the one here. I was waiting for this to happen, and it has already. Carolina uploaded all the pictures from the first two weeks in Argentina, and I could immediately see what Juan did on the very first day. He went to the ‘kiosco’ with my brother Martín, bought something, and went back home. Then he got a picture taken while he was eating it. Yes, you guessed.

Yup. That’s a Lincoln cookie.

I know it’s not going to be long until the first pictures of Gaby eating a huge ‘asado’ (that’s our word for barbecue) start to come… It’s OK, I know I deserve it.
