I arrived in Panama! I couldn't see a lot from the plane, because there was this little kid who would close the window, and then go to sleep. :-(
I was impressed by the airport, is really beatiful. I took a taxi which took me to the hotel, charging me U$S 27.40 for the trip. I felt it was very expensive, maybe because I compared against Colombia instead of Canada. But I couldn't stop asking myself: "wasn't Panama supposed to be cheaper than Colombia?".
I verified that this was true once I went out for a walk. Prices are in American dollars, because that's the official currency (see notes). A burguer with fries and a pop are a little under $2.00. We were invited for dinner, and we went to a restaurant called "Jimmy". I had a schnitzel with fries that tasted like glory, and it was about $8.00. That really looked cheap.

I just found out there's a pool, though it's outdoor and it rained today -like the rest of the week so far.
Once we got back from dinner, we had to connect to Colombia to fix a problem that was found at one of the hospitals. We worked from 10:20 PM to 1:30 AM, but everything indicates that we fixed the problem. I'm going to bed now, it's more than 2:00 AM and I have to get up at 6:30 AM. Ouch!
Notes from Panama:
* Panamá City is on the Pacific, but the beach looks ugly, because of contamination and extreme tides. There's a plan in march to clean the area, which is a good thing.
* The city is modern, with very tall buildings, and it looks like we're in the presence of a construction boom.
* The official currency is the American dollar, as I said, but for the coins they still use the old currency, the balboa. Conversion rate is 1 to 1, obviously.
