Live from… Bogotá, Colombia (take 4)

(En español más abajo)

CanadaOnce again, I’m in beautiful Bogotá, working on a very difficult upgrade that this time we did manage to get right. I have been very busy, something you can infer from my almost total online absence in the last two or three weeks. What is in there, a couple of Wordless Wednesdays, a ‘list’ post and another one that I wrote through speech recognition and never bored to translate into Spanish…not much, right?

Last time, I was talking about my family and how I should ensure that I always put them first. Well, I hope I can say that I finally did. With my work in Atlanta wrapping up, I packed at 4PM and drove 9 hours north to surprise Gaby and the kids on Wednesday morning. I spent the whole day with them and our friends, and then headed back to Atlanta at 8:30 PM, driving all night to make it to the airport at 6:00 AM. The fact that I made it to my flight was a total miracle, though.

Things went very well in Bogotá. Lots of work, but we finally got a very difficult upgrade done, and the customer was happy! It was an interesting experience for me, as I took on a technical leadership role but also did a little PR as well. I don’t normally get to go on meetings with the Directors and speak to them, and I liked that. I see the challenges the region faces and I know exactly what I can do to help. Hopefully I will be able to!

I ended writing this as I’m already on my way back from Colombia. It was an incredibly busy week! I’m equally happy and tired; just passed out on the first leg of my flight and now I’m in Miami, waiting for my second flight…
