Embarrassing moments - #54

Embarrassing moments

CanadaNot the first time that my brother Guillermo is featured here! He lives in Virginia, and he sings with Cantigas, a very good and prestigious Latin American Choir. With them, he had the privilege of singing the world premiere of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ in Spanish, not too long ago. He was also part of the “Latino Inaugural 2013” just a few days ago, closing the event singing along with Latino celebrities and legends such as Eva Longoria, Mark Anthony and José Feliciano.

A few days later, he went to a concert at the Kennedy Center. The programme included pieces written by Beethoven, Béla Bartok and Brams (all among my favourites) and my brother said it was exceptional. But during the piano solos in the first part of the concert, he could clearly hear snoring very close from where he was seating. People were turning their heads, trying to find the offender, and so was he! Then he spotted an Asian gentleman sitting next to his wife, and he was continuously nodding, as if he were trying to stay awake. My brother, very irritated with the snoring, decided to take matters in his own hands…

He took the programme and wrote in the back: “You are snoring!”. Then he tapped this man on the shoulder, and gave the programme to him. He looked at my brother, startled, as if he had been caught at fault. My brother signalled him to look at the note and he signalled back at him: “It wasn’t me!!”. At the same time, my sister-in-law whispered to him: “It’s not him…”

They went to the intermission and my brother took the opportunity to apologize to the embarrassed man. He never came back! :-)

Actually, this happened on Saturday, just the day before Sunday's inaugural gala. And just to be clear, it was the chinese guy who did not come back, not me. I'm convinced it was him who was snoring, even if my wife says otherwise... :)
