Silly Monkey Stories #168 – Me, exaggerating? No, no, a million times no!

(En español más abajo)

Canada01/Oct/2011 – Carolina (14)

We had gone out with Gaby, a rare occasion, and the kids were all home. We instructed Carolina to take care of dinner, and she happily said yes (no, I’m not kidding, she actually likes to cook).

I'm not sure of what she was preparing, but apparently it required boiling some water. Soon we got a call from our substitute cook:

- Um, don't get scared (uh-oh) but I dropped the pot and spilled hot water all over my legs.
- What??!! Are you alright?
- How bad it is?
- You said it's all over your legs?
- Should we take you to the hospital?
- No, no, not needed. I just spilled a lot of hot water on the top of my feet and it really stings.
- OK... Apply toothpaste (*) on your legs while we get there. If the pain subsides, then wrap them on a wet towel (cold water!). We're on our way.
- Wait, wait! I'm alright. Don't worry...

We kept going back and forth with recommendations and questions, and Carolina was minimizing the effects of her accident more and more. We know she has a tendency to exaggerate a little, but we were still wondering how bad it was...

There were two dots on the top of her feet, and a couple of toes that were a little red. That was it. :-)

A few days later, I see this on Facebook. Enough said.

(*) Applying toothpaste on burns, while a popular choice, is a really bad idea. Toothpaste dries the skin and promotes its splitting. Cold water, lemon juice, aloe vera or lavender oil are far better methods.

Argentina 01/Oct/2011 – Carolina (14)

- No, no, no hace falta.

Caro: Casi me muero!

  1. That is too funny! I can't wait until my children can cook on their own.

Love your new background. Did you take the photo of the foliage yourself?
