From Chatham Youth Soccer Club's website:
The Chatham Attack U12's played the Waterloo Panthers in a Challenge Cup Quarter final game in Woodstock Sunday. Heading into the game the teams had met two times in the regular season; Waterloo had defeated Chatham in the second game of the season by a 2-0 margin at Thames Campus with Chatham returning the favour by beating Waterloo 2-0 in the second last game of the season in Waterloo.
The teams were very evenly matched and the game on Sunday was reflective of that.
The teams played a scoreless first half of play but in the second half Gabe Wallace scored for the Attack. Then with 5 minutes left in regulation time Waterloo were awarded a free kick just outside of Chatham's penalty area. The free kick was crossed in front of the net and Santiago Almada scored sending the game into overtime. In the overtime Zack Horvath scored on a well placed shot into the far corner to give the Attack the victory sending them into the Challenge Cup Semi Finals!
For his tireless work in midfield Kyle Parry was the game star for the Attack.
Chatham now prepares to play London City Arsenal in the Semi-final Saturday morning in Strathroy.
