Embarrassing moments - #086

Embarrassing moments

CanadaI’m in Winnipeg, Manitoba this week, my second trip in the last three weeks. I was planning on writing one of my ‘Live from…’ posts, but my laptop crashed badly and I have just been able to recover it… for now.

It was a last minute trip, to the point that I was told to find a flight and get here as soon as possible at around 5:00 PM on Monday. I could not find tickets for the evening flights, so I had to wait until 6:00 AM on Tuesday. I went back home, stayed up until 2:00 AM, packed trying not to bother Gaby too much since she was sleeping, and then I left.

When I got here and went to the hotel to take a shower and change my clothes to go to the hospital, I discovered that I had brought a dress pant that was four sizes too big… even with a belt on it would fall!  I had to wear jeans on Tuesday, and then ask my co-worker to drive me to WalMart so I could buy me some khakis…

The following morning, as I was very happily getting ready to go to work, I went to look for my socks and… I didn’t have any. I had only brought one pair!!! I asked myself “how could this be possible? I did grab socks and underwear from the top drawer!”

And that’s when I realized what I had done. Since I was packing with little to no light -again, so I wouldn’t bother Gaby- I had grabbed two handfuls of clothes, thinking that I had both socks and underwear, but I only had the latter. I came here with no socks and about 10 pairs of underwear, so of course I had to ask my co-worker to take me to WalMart again (because for the first time I had decided not to rent a car this week).

I forgot to mention… I had 6 (six) undershirts and 5 (five) soccer/gym jerseys in my bag. I brought a suitcase full of clothes, 80% of which I could not use…

I should change the name of this section and replace ‘embarrassing’ with ‘senior’…
