Internet is funny #02 – Fail blog

Internet is funny!

CanadaThe story on how I found this blog is interesting. I came back from my second trip to England back in December, and I was desperate because I had found the most incredible sign ever at the hospital, but couldn’t take a picture of it. So I went online looking for it, and voilà, there was the Fail blog to come to the rescue. But I found much more than what I was looking for!

Incidentally, the picture is extremely funny, but not the kind of stuff I would publish on my blog (it’s NSFW = not safe for work). If you still want to see it, you can find it here.

image Once I found the picture (and made sure my co-workers did too), I started to look at the rest of the site. And it was huge… and I just couldn’t put it down. I couldn’t stop browsing through this Fail blog until I made it to the very last page. Intrigued, I recommended the site to some of my friends, and then my brother and my two nieces, warning them about what had happened to me. In all cases, the same thing happened: they couldn’t stop until they made it to page one hundred and who-knows-what. There must be a reason for it, don’t you think?

The premise of the blog is simple: it just contains photos and videos sent by the readers, that describe a very funny situation, sign or something like that. They inevitably fall into three categories: FAIL, WIN and the one I like the most (and has become a trademark of my team at work): EPIC FAIL. Santi has reported that all the kids at his school are saying ‘Epic fail’ now, and I replied he should take credit for it. We are planning to use ‘Win’, ‘Fail’ and ‘Epic fail’ to send short status messages when we’re on the road… :-)

Sometimes, just sometimes, you get to see an ‘Epic win’. But who could care about those, eh? Life will never give us an ‘Epic win’!

Here are a few examples. I strongly recommend you take a look at the rest here… at your own risk. It’s very addictive!

  1. My 15-year-old sister introduced me to the Fail blog just a few weeks ago, and it is indeed quite funny. Just a side note on the whole fail/epic fail slang... My sister has been using those expressions for about two years now. I find that it's one of those cases where you are drawn to using the slang, but you can't use it because it would be uncool as an adult to do so. My sister has railed on my stepdad several times for using her phrase. Ah, teenagers. ;)

Saludos.
