Queen’s legacy is unquestionable. We’re talking about a band that not only had four fantastic musicians, but also excellent composers. They were not afraid of expanding their horizons and trying other music styles and rhythms. That’s how we have gems like “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Somebody to love”, “It’s a kind of magic” or even the Latin-style “Who needs you” (one of my favourites).
Something absolutely unique happens on this clip, about two minutes in. If you're a Queen fan, you'll know what I'm talking about!
Everybody remembers Freddie Mercury, his extravagant outfits, his incredible stage presence and his unbelievable vocals. But Queen was a band that also had a guy like Brian May who could make just one guitar like a million instruments at the same time, and one of the most compact, reliable bass-drum bases I have ever heard with Deacon and Taylor. Deacon, often overlooked due to his introverted personality, not only was a incredibly gifted bassist (my favourite ever) but also able to play the lead part many times. How many bands do you know that have the bass guitar right in front, like with “Another one bites the dust”, “It’s a kind of magic” or “Body language”?
For many, the best song in Rock history
Queen was way ahead of its time, and way ahead of its peers for many, many years. While Deacon retired after Freddie Mercury’s death in 1991, May and Taylor continue to perform and have just finished their association with Paul Rodgers. They have recently quit their long time label EMI and signed with Universal, so I guess there’s still more Queen to come!
One of my favourite video clips ever!
An unbelievable song, that can make rocks dance!

ReplyDelete* '39
* Seaside Rendez-vous
* You take my breath away
* Good old fashioned loverboy
* Teo Torriate (let us cling together)
* Tie your mother down
* Spread your wings
* Jealousy
* Dreamer's ball
* In only seven days
* Save me
* Sail away, sweet sister
* It's a hard life
* Friends will be friends
* Who wants to live forever
* Show must go on (temazo!)
* It this the world we created
* Innuendo
* These are the days of our lives
* Too much love will kill you
We really have similar musical taste - I love Queen!
