Silly Monkey Stories #186 - Pride

My son is a good kid, there are no doubts about it. He may be a royal pain to his siblings, but he’s a very kind, well educated and responsible guy. He loves his family and he enjoys spending time with it.

He’s in Argentina now, as I probably mentioned before. He left home exactly a year after the day when he left on a life changing trip to Nicaragua, and he was aware of that:

I was very impressed by the fact that he remembered that, and also very pleased to see that the effect of that trip has lasted so long. This trip to Argentina might not top his experience in Central America, but he is still having a great time. He’s been staying with my brother Martin and my mother-in-law, who is the epitome of the word “grandma”. She has obviously taken good care of him, as she always does, but it still surprised me a little when I saw this on Santi’s Twitter the other day:

I found that very mature and thoughtful of him, and I let him know it. But even knowing him so well, I wasn’t prepared for the message I got from him right after he went to a soccer game with my brother and my two nieces:

Screen_20120313_015345“I just wanted to say thanks for giving me the opportunity to come to Argentina. I’m having a blast”
“I wouldn’t have done it if I didn’t think that you deserved it and you were going to have a
good time. I love you very much, son”

What could I say after something like this…

  1. What nice and appreciative thing to say!

(By the way, I took the linky down since it's been 4 years and you and I are the only participants. If you keep posting, I will still come to read and comment. You don't have to link back to my blog in your post.)

    1. I will keep the link to your blog front and center. I love this series; Silly Monkeys and my own 'Embarrassing moments' are the only two reasons why I keep this blog up and running these days (though I totally forgot to post last week...)

  3. I think it's wonderful that you're able to provide your children with the opportunity to travel and visit their roots. Kudos to Santi for recognizing that and showing his gratitude. Lucky kid and a lucky dad, too!
