Embarrassing moments - #33

Embarrassing moments

CanadaReady to laugh at my expense? Here we go…

Back in January, I was involved in a Clinical Validation at a site in Northern Tennessee, where I stayed for about three weeks. The upgrade weekend was pretty much uneventful (my lucky streak lives on!) but there were a couple of moments in which I had to call Waterloo for help. Now I’m the kind of guy who’s not afraid of saying I don’t know” and then picking up the phone, but this time I still made sure I would try my best to fix things myself before I did… because it was 4:30 AM on a Saturday!

But I did have to call someone, and then two more colleagues later that morning (all before 7:00 AM). I got the help I needed in all cases (well, because I knew exactly who to call!), so in the end the upgrade went just fine. But I did promise each one of those three very nice colleagues I would bring them some chocolate as a token of my appreciation.

And I did! I went to see them the same day I went back to the office, and I gave them the chocolates in person. The last person I went to see, however, wasn’t at her desk, so I left the chocolates along with a thank you note: I’m very sorry I woke you up at 4:30 AM. Thank you for your help! Gabriel”.

This is where you say Very nice, Gabriel, way to go!” before you find out… that I left the box in the wrong cubicle!

Imagine the face of this guy when he got some chocolates with a thank you note from me… and his disappointment when I took them from him and gave them to the right recipient… I will never learn.
