Silly Monkey Stories #130 – Unicorns

24/Dec/2010 – Santi (15) and Florencia (7)

 

At our Christmas Eve dinner, me and Flor were talking about the Christmas tree, and what kind of gift might be waiting for us under it. Florencia, who had just watched –and loved– the movie ‘Despicable me’, said:

 

- I hope I get a unicorn, like the girl in the movie.

- Or a pony! (I added)

 

Then Santi (aka) “Buzz Killington” said:

 

- They’re the same…

 

We asked him to elaborate a little further and he continued, as laconically as he had started:

 

- Unicorns and ponies, they’re pretty much the same…

 

Florencia, deeply insulted in her beliefs, urged him to explain what he had meant by that, which prompted Santi to say:

 

- What are unicorns, after all? They’re ponies, but with a power tool in their foreheads.

 

Always the romantic, eh? Since I'm at it, watch the movie, it's hilarious. Here's the scene Flor was referring to:

 

 

 

24/Dic/2010 – Santi (15) y Florencia (7)

 

Durante nuestra cena de Nochebuena, Flor y yo hablábamos del arbolito, y de qué regalos esperábamos encontrar debajo de él. Florencia, que acababa de ver –y adorar– la película ‘Despicable me’, dijo:

 

- Ojalá que Papá Noel me traiga un unicornio, como la nena de la película.

- O un pony! (agregué yo).

 

Fue entonces cuando Santi (alias) “Corta ondas”, dijo:

 

- Meh… Son lo mismo…

 

Le requerimos que elaborara un poco más su línea de pensamiento, y agregó tan lacónicamente como había comenzado:

 

- Los unicornios y los ponies, son prácticamente lo mismo…

 

Florencia, sintiendo que sus creencias estaban siendo insultadas, demandó saber a qué se refería Santi por lo que éste concluyó, categórico:

 

- Qué son los unicornios después de todo? Son ponies, pero con un taladro que les sale de la cabeza…

 

Siempre tan romántico y soñador el nene, no? Ya que estamos, no se pierdan la película, que está muy divertida (NPI de qué nombre tiene en español). El clip a que hacía referencia Flor está arriba.

Silly Monkey Stories #129 – Drunk driving

22/Dec/2010 – Florencia (7) & Carolina (13)

 

We were at the Wal-Mart near Flint, Michigan, buying some food for our 3-day stay in Frankenmuth (I will post pictures later, what a beautiful place!). While me and Gaby started to walk around looking for the things we needed, the two boys went straight for the Electronics section, and Flor and Caro went to get a shopping cart.

 

Flor sat inside and Carolina started to push. Both had been acting very silly all day, so it wasn’t surprising when Caro started to make the shopping cart go zig-zagging through the aisles, with poor Florencia being thrown around like a rag doll.

 

Not knowing how to make her stop, Florencia went for the legal advice:

 

- Caro! Stop doing that, cops are going to stop you and accuse you of drunk driving!

 

 

 

22/Dic/2010 – Florencia (7) & Carolina (13)

 

Estábamos en el Wal-Mart cerca de Flint, Michigan, comprando algo de comida para nuestro viaje de 3 días a Frankenmuth (luego voy a postear fotos de este lugar tan bonito!). Mientras Gaby y yo comenzábamos a caminar buscando las cosas que precisábmos, los dos varones se fueron derechito a la sección de electrónica y Flor y Caro se fueron a buscar un carrito.

 

Flor se sentó en el carrito mientras Carolina empujaba. Habían estado haciéndose las loquitas todo el día, así que nadie se sorprendió de ver a Caro andar como loca haciendo zig zag por los pasillos, mientras la pobre Florencia se sacudía dentro del carrito como si fuera una muñeca de trapo.

 

Como no sabía cómo hacerla parar, Florencia optó por la advertencia del tipo legal:

 

- Caro! Pará de hacer eso, que van a venir policías y te van a llevar por manejar borracha!
