Embarrassing moments - #27

(En español más abajo)

Embarrassing moments

CanadaBecause I'm all about trying to put a smile in your face every Friday, I had a new embarrassing moment that happened the same day I posted my last one, this meaning, a week ago today.

One thing, though: this time you have to be honest, and think about how many times this might have happened to you.

We had two big training workshops during the past two weeks, and me and my team were very involved with them. The first one was organized by my team and I was one of the instructors, becoming one of the attendees the following week. Co-workers from many regions (North America, Europe, Australia) came to participate, and I got for finally meet with people I have known for years, but only through e-mails, calls, WebEx sessions or instant messaging.

On the very last day, and right after we were all dismissed, a group of us went out for a late lunch along with one of our Global Training Managers. We sat there, chatted and ate, and soon we started to tell jokes, or recount horror stories from the field, the usual stuff.

As we were ready to leave, I turned to the manager (the only lady in a table of 12) and I say to her, jokingly:

- Well, we all appreciate you picking up the tab. If I had known you were going to pay, I would have chosen a more expensive item from the menu.

Everybody laughed, including her. Thirty seconds later, the waiter brought the check, and she paid for everyone!!! Apparently, that had been the plan all along, only that I never knew.

I still don't know where to hide...

Todavía no sé dónde meterme...

  2. I guess everyone has their embarrassing moments once in a while. For example, my husband always gets in the wrong car every morning. I keep telling him that we need to re-paint our cars with different colors but he insisted that it's not necessary.
