Silly Monkey Stories #103 – United in idiocy

(En español más abajo)

It was Saturday afternoon and me, Santi and his friend Michael were on our way to a pub to go watch the England-USA game for the World Cup. As we arrived to the very busy intersection of Bridge St and University Avenue, Santi spotted a car that had a Brazilian flag attached.

He immediately took our Argentine flag and proceeded to put it on the passenger side window. Holding it with two fingers, he started to pull up the window and released it as the light went green and we started to move… but he released his fingers a little too early.

The flag fell off the car and in the middle of the intersection. I pulled over immediately, and Santi jumped off the car to retrieve our beloved flag, while cars were running over it. Michael was laughing his butt off, and I kept saying to myself: “I’m not his father, I’m not his father”…

The following day, as we got ready to go to our soccer practice, I made myself a coffee to drink on my way to the field. Opened the car and stayed talking to my neighbour while I was waiting for Santi to be ready. Once he got in the car too, I pulled off the driveway and left.

The moment I turned right to exit our condominium, I heard a loud bang and something that started to run down my window. I had left my coffee mug on top of the car! I asked Santi –who couldn’t stop laughing– to get off and pick it up (it was on the street but still in one piece), and I could swear I heard him say to himself: He’s not my father, he’s not my father”…

Maybe you can’t see the dirt on the flag… but I bet you see the coffee marks on the window.

  4. Lol. I went out with my sils and Kayla and KC on Friday and I thought of you the whole time. They were playing soccer on the big screen at Eastside's.
