29/Jun/2015 – Florencia (11)Florencia had her first ‘Rep’ soccer game ever last week (this means, she played for the Waterloo team like her older siblings instead of the recreational league), so I had to drop her off in Elora (a neighbouring town) and then head back because I had another game myself. Knowing that Florencia always gets into funny arguments with her opponents, once she got back I asked her if she had any ‘discussions’. Here’s what she said:
- Um, yeah… there was this girl, and I was running away from this other player, and the first girl said ‘cover it’ to her; I immediately replied ‘I’m a human being, you know, and I have a name’. The other girl asked me ‘Oh, yeah? And what’s your name?’ So I said ‘Florencia’ and the other girl said ‘that’s actually a nice name’, so I replied ‘of course’. And then she left…
Watching her expressions as she was retelling this story was just priceless.
29/Jun/2015 – Florencia (11)Florencia tuvo su primer partido de fútbol ‘Rep’ la semana pasada (eso quiere decir que jugó por el equipo de Waterloo como sus hermanos mayores en lugar de la liga recreacional), así que la tuve que dejar en Elora (un pueblito vecino) y luego pegué la vuelta porque yo tenía un partido también. Sabiendo que Florencia siempre se mete en discusiones divertidas con sus oponentes, una vez que volvió le pregunté si había tenido algún ‘intercambio’. Esto es lo que me contó:
- Uh, si… estaba esta chica, y yo me estaba acabando de otra jugadora, y la primera chica le dijo ‘cubrí eso’ a la otra; yo enseguida le respondí ‘Soy un ser humano, sabés, y tengo nombre’. La otra chica me dijo ‘Ah, sí? Y cómo te llamás?’ Yo le dije ‘Florencia’ y la otra chica me dijo ‘es un lindo nombre en realidad’. Yo le respondí ‘por supuesto’. Y ella se fue…
Las caras y expresiones que hacía cuando contaba esa historia eran realmente impagables.
