Silly Monkey Stories #50 - Electric

Canada Sep/2002 – Santiago (7)

I don’t remember exactly the circumstances of this story, because I didn’t write it down, but I do remember Santi’s reaction, which in the end is the funny part of this.

I believe I was working on a computer; I had opened the CPU to either replace the memory or just clean it up. As always, I was sitting on the floor with the opened CPU on top of my legs, powered on and everything. There is no real risk in doing that, as computers work on 12 V, so nothing could happen to me unless I touched the power cord. Santi didn’t know this, of course…

He came and saw me sticking my hand on a working computer, almost carelessly. And he got alarmed. Worried, he tried to call my attention, but I kept ignoring him, busy with my problem. So he finally yelled at me, exasperated:

- Dad!!!!
- What??
- You’re going to get ‘electric’, @$@%#!!!

He was so genuinely anguished and concerned about me that I decided to let go of the fact that he had insulted me, in which turned out to be the first of a long list that I hope end by the time I turn sixty…

Argentina Sep/2002 –  Santiago (7)

- Te vas a ‘electricar’, pelotudo!!!
