Top Commentators - July 2008

LfW_ticket_200807
I saw this receipt at Mercedes' blog,
who in turn got it from www.customreceipt.com

Canada
"Live from Waterloo" had one of the best months I can remember in July! Even though the number of visits was slightly lower than in June (maybe more if you take into consideration that July has one more day), I still managed to have an average of just above 100 visits per day. What really made me happy was the participation of my readers. Look at the "Top Commentators" table below!

My Technorati authority went down a little, to around 125. Blogalaxia stopped listing Canadian blogs, so I don't know exactly where I am. I checked against the other top two blogs and I was in second place, but who knows if there's another blog I didn't look at that has a higher popularity index...

According to Feedburner, I have just about 80 subscribers, which means I maintain the numbers I had in June. That's really good!

Wednesdays are still the peak of my week in terms of traffic, thanks to my Wordless Wednesday posts; there was, however, a very special Wednesday, which was the day in which I posted my report about the Independiente - Toronto FC game. An Argentine portal found and picked up my report, and that brought me a lot of extra readers. I broke my previous record of visits that day, with 387. That will be hard to match! None of my posts went unnoticed; this meaning, they all had comments, the record being 65 for my "Bridges" post on July 2nd.

There was a 'hidden' series of posts, and that was the countdown that I started around July 15th, without saying anything. People gradually started to wonder what was going on, which drove me to create a poll, just to see what people were thinking I was going to announce. Here are the results:

Poll_20080725

I love the fact that the majority thought we were going to have another baby (at this age, people!). The announcement was, of course, that of Gaby's trip to Argentina, which very few guessed (Biddie being the first one). That paved the way for my new series, "Alone with four kids", in which I'm telling you how I manage to survive while Gaby is having the time of her life back in Argentina.

My stats, according to Sitemeter:
MonthVisits / Page ViewsGrowth (respect previous month)
11/20071,708 / 3,157-- / --
12/20071,632 / 2,499-4.45% / -20.84%
01/20082,812 / 5,229+72.30% / +109.24%
02/20083,530 / 6,662+25.53% / +27.40%
03/20083,344 / 4.578-5.27% / -31.28%
04/20082,763 / 3.917-17.37% / -14.44%
05/20083,107 / 4,175+12.45% / +6.59%
06/20083,230 / 4,276+3.96% / +2.42%
07/20083,152 / 4,298-2.41% / +0.51%

Right now, I have no idea of what I am going to offer to you during the rest of the month of August. There's more soccer, of course, and I will keep writing some stories and posting pictures. But I need to come up with something interesting, because the number of daily visits has dropped considerably in August. I'm averaging 70, which is really low for me...

Here's the best part of the month: the "Top Commentator" race! Mike still managed to win, with a big number: 37 comments ! That's more than one per day, Mike, you sure seem to like this blog! Lorena, from "Travesías de los Varsano Cagnotti" could not maintain her first place from last month. In fact, she fell down to third, thanks to María Clara, who came from Bogotá with the nicest of introductions and has been a very prolific commentator (and what a beautiful blog she has, you should check it out). In fact, María Clara was just three comments behind Mike with 34, and ten ahead of Lore. Another newcomer, Kuanyin, came in fourth with a whopping 23 comments, followed by Biddie, with 16, Lina with 15 and Jean with 10. Secret Agent Mama, Jorge. Dianne @ Bunny Trails, Annie, Nata, Jientje and Arturo were among the familiar faces that had more than five comments. Enzo made a return this month, and I welcomed Indrani to my top list; Indrani blogs from Bangalore, in India!

I had lots and lots of comments. I received comments from 224 readers this month, and they left a total of 563 comments, which is 101 more than in June! I cannot tell you how honoured I am. Sometimes I read the things that people say to me and I truly blush; other times, I feel proud, but most times I still shake my head in disbelief; to have so many people liking what I do here is just great!

Argentina

MesVisitas / Page ViewsCrecimiento respecto mes anterior
11/20071,708 / 3,157-- / --
12/20071,632 / 2,499-4.45% / -20.84%

02/20083,530 / 6,662+25.53% / +27.40%
03/20083,344 / 4,578-5.27% / -31.28%
04/20082,763 / 3.917-17.37% / -14.44%
05/20083,107 / 4,175+12.45% / +6.59%

07/20083,152 / 4,298-2.41% / +0.51%

No puedo decirles cuán agradecido estoy.
